Milton Keynes Transport and Travel
This exhibition traces the history of travel and transport in Milton Keynes; beginning with the first route through the area built by the Romans, it highlights the area’s importance as part of the canal network and as a stage coach route throughout the 18th century. It explores the impact of the coming of the railways in the 19th century and then their decline as they gave way to road transport in the 20th century. Not forgotten is the effect of the building of a new city and the travel and transport systems in place today.
