The Milton Keynes Mix
This exhibition shows the many organisations which were celebrating special anniversaries in 2009. Living Archive celebrates 25 years of working on arts and heritage projects in with the community, many of the branch libraries celebrating decades of service are just a few examples set alongside stories of peoples experiences of coming to and working successfully in the area in a variety of professions.
Media Presentation Please click on image to view the powerpoint presentation that was created to accompany this exhibition. As part of the national Take Flight Archive Awareness campaign, Discover Milton Keynes featured two artists whose works have been intrinsically linked with the new city.
Helmut Jacoby was commissioned by Milton Keynes Development Corporation to produce sketches and drawings to be used as artists’ impressions which accompanied the designs and plans for the forthcoming new city. Bernard Schottlander, a sculptor whose work was bought by the Milton Keynes Development Corporation and who later bequeathed a series of nine ‘Dancers’ to Milton Keynes because he was fond of the area. |
