Historic Towns & Villages

Discover some of the history of the towns and villages of Milton Keynes and its surrounding area. Material on display is drawn from the archives of some of the 50 member organisations of the Milton Keynes Heritage Association.

Using old photographs the exhibition tells the story of a rural area and the gradual impact that change brought to it, especially with the advent of the canal, railway and the growth of towns long before Milton Keynes was built. It also explores town and village life and highlights some of the people who lived in the area.

Bringing a contemporary note is a display of aerial photographs from the 1960s and 1970s.
