What is Discover Milton Keynes?

It’s a big experiment!
It’s different to anything else in Milton Keynes - or elsewhere.
It’s the first of its kind…

And it needs you - new settlers and long-term residents - to help uncover the wonderful stories of its people and amazing facts abounding throughout the City and its surrounding area.

Discover Milton Keynes is located on the outside of thecentre:mk facing Lloyds Court (next door to Currys and close to door 7), this new facility has been provided by a unique partnership between Milton Keynes Council, The Central Milton Keynes Partnerships and thecentre:mk. It is run by Living Archive, one of the City’s foremost agencies in creative, cultural and community development.

It will showcase what makes Milton Keynes special - special both to its citizens, and as a hugely expanding international centre planned to reach a population of 350,000 by 2031.

The Discover Milton Keynes base offers:

Diversity and Achievement

Peartree Bridge Centre

During the late 1970s and early 80s this youth club became the hub of local music. A compilation album of local bands 'A Warped Sense of Human' was released in 1981 and highlighted by John Peel on his legendary late night Radio 1 show.

Did you Know.....?

Channel 40 was a community cable television experiment from 1976-79. Residents were encouraged to make their own programmes using very cumbersome portable black and white reel-to-reel video cameras - the best the domestic market could offer in those days!
