Discovering Places
The Parks Trust is a major landowner and provider of services to the area and this exhibition highlights some of its work. The tireless efforts that go into maintaining the parks, the education programme it has developed and the huge volunteer programme it runs. The exhibition features well-known landmarks in the city such as the Cathedral of Trees, as well as some more unusual aspects of the Trusts work, such as the making of cricket bats and its very own Parkland meat produce.
The Arts Open Weekend, an annual festival that takes place every May put together by artists and arts organisations in the local area, it highlights some of the many workshops and activities for those wishing to participate or try something new, as well as the chance for organisations to promote themselves and their work. Festive Road is a local arts organisation working to high acclaim in the community. Cultural celebrations include their ‘Champion for Milton Keynes ‘project where ‘Chandra’, the puppet, tours the area and the ‘Brewing Up for 2012’ a creative visual and musical experiment that celebrates our national obsession of tea-drinking.
